- 1 cup of rice
- 2 cups of water
- Salt to taste
Method
To cook perfect rice, start by rinsing the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid, and let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking, as this releases steam. After the time is up, remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
